Jack-in-the-box
We
slowly, dutifully
Turn
the handle of life,
One
eye open
For
anticipated surprises,
On
edge,
Waiting
for the jack-in-the-box
Of
our efforts,
Only
to conclude
That
the lid
Has
been sealed all along,
And
our turning and expectations
Have
revealed a different sort of clown

The
Sounds a Shadow Makes
The
whines and the wails
Are
suppressed, concealed in darkness..
From
the shadows comes the sound
Of
camouflaged cries,
Unseen
suffering from unknown depths,
Disguised
despair in black attire,
Wishes
manifest as whispers
Where
there is no salvation in the silence…
There
is a beautiful painful symphony
Played
on instruments of torment
From
the fringes of the blackness

Soulmates, Daughters, and the Spirit in the Urn
This collection was my second chapbook. The central theme is looking at relationships in a different way, in an honest, objective, observational way. This includes family, romantic relationships, and even reflecting on relationships with those who have departed.
Random Roadside Cemetery
"Random Roadside Cemetery" is my first collection of poetry, published as a chapbook. The book was inspired by my younger daughter on a long Sunday drive. It was sewn together from a decade of thoughts written down on post-it notes, legal pads, business cards...The central idea is that life is a puzzle that we never solve, and while trying to solve it, it passes us by.

Greetings to everyone. This page is just under construction, but I hope to find the time to dedicate to its completion and maintenance.
This is my first large collection of poetry, which is due to drop around mid-February. It is published by Kelsay Books, and I hope that anyone who is interested in the art of poetry and the world of poets will decide to pick it up and share their thoughts.
It has been a thought of mine for some time to step out of literary isolation and connect with others who cannot experience the world without a unique literary articulation to mark the moments.
All my best,
Michael
